Canada Day, minus the Mountie.

Hey world, we're 140 years old now!
Just babies in the whole scheme of world history.
We didn't spare any time selling out the rights of our precious 'mountie' image to Disneyland, however.
Unfortunately, I can't find any information on the innernets, but I know it to be true.
Why would we do this?
I have no idea.
If anyone can explain this to me, I'd be thankful.
BUT, I still love my country.
Happy Canada Day everyone!

Funny, I just posted about Canada. Maybe it's because my best bud was born and bred Canadian ... but I'm one of those rare Amercians who is always aware of Canada Day!

Happy Canada day up north!
I have friends in Brooklyn who are having a Canada Day party. 'Cause one of them's Canadian.

As far as I understand, no one sold anything. Disney was producing entertainment using Mounites as characters and copyrighted all of it. So they own the image of the RCMP for express use of entertainment. I may have it wrong. Chris probably knows more about it thatn me.

Blame Disney.

Happy Canada Day. BTW, do you know the words to "Oh, Canada"? I'm afraid I'm still on the "old" version.

Hi Josie!
Yes, I know both the old AND the new version. We were taught both in about '80 or so...maybe a little later but around then.

I hope you had a great Canada Day. I had no idea about the mountie imagie being sold to Disney.

That's so odd.

Love the mounties. Surely, it is only the marketing that Disney owns.
