Blog-block.

This damned block has got to give at some point....right?
It's been said that a writer...ahem.
That is, a "Writer" ought to write some everyday just to keep the machine oiled.

I've heard that. So...does this bit of dribble count?
Well, here's a lovely picture instead. It's Dante's Dream. By Rosetti.
"It represents the episode in the 'Vita Nuova' when Dante dreams of seeing Beatrice in death. Dante is led to Beatrice by the winged figure of Love, dressed in red, wearing the scallop shell of a pilgrim. Love carries a branch of apple-blossom, a spring flower and a symbol of unconsummated love, plucked before it comes to fruit. Poppies, the flower of sleep or death, litter the floor. The veil is laden with may-blossom, perhaps alluding to the season of Beatrice's death (June 9). A view of Florence is seen in the background."

Ah, those wacky pre-Raphaelites. You gotta love 'em and their histrionic breast-beating. :)

It is a beautiful painting, and reading your blog is a joy, even if you've posted a picture and chatted about it for a paragraph or two. The fact that you're suffering from writer's block means you're a writer, yes?

And by the way, I read "Puppies litter the floor". Sometimes, my own illiteracy amuses me.

I get blocked quite often and it bites! I have found with blogging there are two things I think about frequently and equally..

50% of the time I wonder what the heck I'm going to write about.

50% of the time I worry that I shouldn't have written what I did, lol.

You've been blogging a long time and good posts I might add... I have no doubt it will pass before you know it and then we won't be able to keep up with all the reading. :)

Hey, if my excuse for writing over the last couple weeks counts, this counts too ;)

It was an interesting post on atopic I know nothing about but you made me want to know more. Who is this girl? Why was the love unconsumated? You just wrote a cliff-hanger and I'm a-hanging.

Did you know that Dante and Beatrice never actually had a conversation? Now, that is obsession. I once knew a girl like that ... Oops, revealing too much.
By the way, my friend, you have been tagged. Check my blog.

Whenever there is bloggers block, just type something, as long as it's coherent. Whatever thought you have in your brain, no matter how it fits into your normal conventions of blogging, just go ahead and shoot.

That's what I do.

A haunting and extraordinary image. Ian - he also first saw her when he was 9 years old, instantly fell in love, and remained so from a distance basically his whole life. Now she must have been one inspiring woman!

I really, really want to be Wolfgrrl when I grow up because So Damn Often she writes exactly what I want to say. (Actually, I fluctuate between wanting to be all three of you when I grow up for this very reason. Apparently, today is a Wolfgrrrl day.) So instead of simply repeating it, I will say Ditto and pretend I was as eloquent as she.

This sort of painting really appeals to my inner melodrama.

Rossetti repainted this beautiful scene 10 years later changing Beatrice's hair color, her hands and other minor things. This led to damage later on with the double layer of paint. Also there is some question as to who sat for the painting. Some claim it was Mrs. James Hannay whom he had a long affair with while others claim it is Annie Miller. The painting is said to be in good condition as much work on a new blind stretcher and a new lining have been done. Rossetti often relined his works as some took years to complete. It resides permanently in the Walker Gallery in Liverpool. Great post Tai!
