Yep, that's me. On the move.
This is the third time in 3 years. I hope I don't need to move again. It's not that I mind, exactly. But that unsettled feeling of "I hope I like where I'm going to live" I could live without.
When I moved to Victoria from Vancouver, I got rid of most of my stuff, so now I'm having to restock.
It's interesting to discover that my taste has changed quite a bit.
While furniture of pine and particle board used to be okay, I've discovered that I want antiques and solid wood furnishings. (Not to mention, a lovely 'chair-and-a-half'.)
So now I'm 'antiquing' (which I don't believe is a word) and scouring auctions. And it's working! I've found some very nice pieces (you see??? I'm using the word 'pieces' to describe furniture. The world may be coming to an end.)
Here's a good example. My Dad recently gave me a lovely end table. It's very nice.
As the picture (which isn't identical, but close enough) shows, it's a nice little table.
It's a Duncan Phyfe. Which is good. So maybe I inherit my furniture taste from my Dad. I don't know. All I know is, my new place is a hodge-podge right now. And I haven't even moved into it yet!

Here's what I'm sure of: you don't really need that table, and your inner self wants to go back to particle board.
So you should send that table, pronto, to:

I hatemoving—and I have moved 21 times in my 62 years.
Good luck with the move (I loathe the act of moving) and may life unfold for you as it should.
May your move be swift and painless, and involve a small batallion of handsome, helpful men at your beck and call.
Well here's wishing you a quick and easy move.
Love the Duncan Phyfe - it's a neat piece of furniture.
I'm up to 48 moves, and I have lived at my present address for 9 years..... whatcha think of that?!
I love real wood furniture!
Sorry you're having to move again. I really loved the stain glass from your current place, or former place. Good luck and enjoy your new chair there. And don't park under any trees.
Oh my. You've graduated to pieces. I am impressed, at 47 I haven't made it there yet.
Antiquing "is" a word, just as much as therapitized is! It's in my dictionary :)
Love the furniture, and i'm sure you already have a place in mind for each "piece"... somebody's getting older?!
Good luck with the move, Tai. I guess you made a decision on where to live. you'll have to let me know which city you've ended up in.
While I am unsure of the validity of 'antiquing' as a word, I have heard it used before. So you might be helping coin the term.
I move so much I don't even have furniture at the moment. Postmodern nomadism seems the order of the day.
I'm so not into antiques, since most of them are old and ugly. I have a feeling I'll inherit my mom's love for old crap when I'm older though.
10/13 ~ Hope you have time in the moving to stop for a lovely and Tai-worthy Thanksgiving!
Wow, this is a looooong move!
This is an amazingly long move!
Man - I finally stop by your blog in anticipation of seeing the one who lives in Victoria.... I'm coming up finally to visit the city! I was up last month to the San Juan Islands, but stupidly forgot my passport so I couldn't continue up to Victoria. This time I won't forget. But now, I find that you are no longer there! Boo hoo hooey. Where did you move to? I've never been to Victoria, and have anticipated this first visit for a long time.
How is your comfy chair working out? Cheers from Northern California.
