Fritz.

As in, "My home computer is on the fritz." Where that saying came from I'm not sure, but there you have it.

It's screen is dismally black, forcing me to blog from work. Guess I'll have to tote it into the nearest repair shop and hope that they can easily remedy the problem for a very small charge.

It's not so bad, blogging from work (though my boss may have a different opinion), but my Thursday night "World of Warcraft" stint may suffer if I can't get this fixed in time!
(Yes. I am an online computer 'gamer'. My nerd quotient is hereby raised exponentially.)

Oh! And have a great St. Patrick's Day!

  5. Sorry to learn about your home computer. I looked up "on the fritz" for you and the meaning or origin is rather iffy at best. Most think it is a direct reference to the Katzenjammer Kids (cartoon) in which a character named Fritz is always up to no good or brings about sour outcomes. Some think it's a reference to Germans during the time of WWII ... meant to intimate that nothing coming from the Germans could be of any good.
    Aren't you sorry I'm around again? :)

  6. I should have stated "Don't shoot the messenger" on that last comment I made. Frankly I don't have issue with folks of German origin; and lucky thing, that, since I happen to be one.

huh, more empathy over technical misery than human misery... interesting, although I guess someone will argue that one without their computer is in misery...
what a sad existence this world is in.

  15. I would miss not being able to use the computer especially for photos and artwork. Hopefully yours will be working again in no time.

  16. No one can judge. There's nerd in all of us. Whathisface and I used to live our entire lives in my mom's basement playing D&D. We had the sallow complexions, the sunken eyes and we didn't even have a conputer. But now that I think of it, I've never played World of Warcraft.

  18. I think my laptop is having its period, or something. Thank god for my new fancypants stationary. This way I won't have to go into guild wars withdrawal.

  19. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I'm having odd wireless issues with BOTH computers--and it's not the router or Internet feed, either. Very frustrating.
