My subconscious self certainly likes to mess with my mind.
Here, for instance, is a little message whispered into my ear during a battle * scene from my dreams last night:
"Better to go quickly than to die slowly in some friends bathroom."
Great.
Thanks, brain, for that warm and delightful thought delivered to me as I slumbered.
I surely needed to be reminded not to die in any of my friends' bathrooms, and instead ought to try opting for a quick death.
On a battlefield, say.
Nice.
*In truth, it was more of a skirmish than a full-blown battle.
We were preparing for a siege when the first wave of invaders hit.
Some of the enemy managed to make it through our first line of defense...squeezing through as our huge metal gates crashed shut.
It was at this point, with enemy forces rounding the corner, that the man in charge bellowed, "Ah, I can feel it in my gut this is the right thing." Then he dropped his voice to a whisper as he leaned toward my ear, "Better to go quickly...."
Ahhhhh....seems like fighting was popular. Although the whole dying in the bathroom is rather Elvis-ish. I had a dream involving battling - only it was crazy groupies trying to get to my rock band boyfriend and I beat them off with spiked clubs. I hate when that happens.

ReplyDeleteDying in the bathroom was very much the vogue among singers, as sherbears indicates. Not only Elvis, but also Judy Garland and Jim Morrison. Might be a title for a book: "Rock stars that died in the can." You do have enchanting dreams, though, Tai. I too have never had a battle dream. Mine are usually about unfinished business that still cannot be finished in the context of the dream.

ReplyDeleteFreaky dream! I have had a couple of battle dreams in my lifetime, but both have been long ago. I remembered mine being scary at the time. I had almost forgotten about them until I read this post. And now it's my bedtime. Wonderful. I hope my subconscience doesn't start messing with me. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd odder still is that most people who die in their friends' bathrooms probably die pretty quickly. My husband would be jealous of your dream. It sounds like one of his video or rp games.
ReplyDeleteI've had dreams like that. Not recently, thankfully...I find them exhausting. That's some heavy energy expressed in your subconscious.

ReplyDeleteTai, you certainly have some interesting dreams. You must be exhausted when you wake up. I often have a recurring dream about being in an airplane that's about to crash. Not pleasant.

ReplyDeleteJust a theory but did you have like a large family growing up where you always had to fight to use the bathroom? How do knights in full armour go to the bathroom? Now you got me thinking weird thoughts.
Those kind of dreams are certainly entertaining, but I wake up exhausted. Not good.
